Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Ontario is awarding two fellowships at Western University valued at up to $5,000 each to recognize and support mental health and addictions services research. Deadline for applications is Jan. 31, 2019. The winners will be announced in March 2019.
Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a thesis-based doctoral degree program in Ontario at Western University and be in good standing. Funds can be used for knowledge dissemination activities (e.g. conference attendance or publication fees), project-specific needs, or stipendiary support of the applicant.
Doctoral students in public health, clinical sciences (e.g. nursing or social work), health policy, epidemiology, or any other related fields are encouraged to apply. Applicants from a diverse array of communities are welcome. Prior or planned engagement with community-based stakeholders is considered an asset and projects related to priority areas of CMHA Ontario may be given special consideration.
The current priority areas are: 1) mental health and addictions, 2) access to mental health / addictions care, and 3) mental health and justice.
This doctoral fellowship will be awarded based the quality of the research project, achievements of the applicant, and potential impact in Ontario. Successful applicants will be expected to acknowledge CMHA Ontario’s support on all relevant publications and presentations of the project. Award recipients are expected to present their projects at a local CMHA branch.
