Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an empirically-supported therapeutic approach for helping clients resolve ambivalence and move forward with behavioural change. This course will focus on teaching the principles and spirit of MI to help practitioners develop skills to guide their clients through the change process. Over the course of the program, you will learn about what underlies the spirit of MI, what skills and techniques are utilized within MI, and how to work with clients who are struggling with ambivalence and increase their desire and commitment to change. The course will include didactics, videotaped demonstrations, experiential exercises and practice, with an opportunity to reflect and build on your learning and receive feedback on your use of MI skills.
