Manager, Mental Health and Addictions (Permanent, Full Time)

The Canadian Mental Health Association – Halton Region Branch (CMHA-HRB) is seeking a full-time permanent Manager, Mental Health and Addictions. The position is a 37.5 hour per week role based in our Oakville, Ontario office and reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide clinical supervision and support to case managers and crisis workers for various mental health and addiction services
  • Commit to supporting health, safety and wellness according to relevant legislation and agency policies and procedures

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and support the planning, implementation and delivery of all objectives and deliverables of the strategic plan using the quality improvement approach
  • Implement best-practices and evidence-based standards as it applies to the continuum of crisis intervention and case management in mental health and addictions
  • Pull diverse and interdisciplinary teams together, emphasizing interdependence, shared overall objectives, and the need for combined skills
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings on organizational updates and program-specific matters and coordinate staff participation in clinical rounds
  • Review outcomes targets for the respective programs and services, and provide opportunities for staff input for improvement
  • Conduct group and individual clinical supervision with staff to provide ongoing support and mentoring in their work towards meeting the highest quality and safety of client services as well as towards strength and balance in their well-being
  • Identify training needs and provide opportunities for staff competencies, development and professional growth as well as participate in continuing education with respect to all programs and services within the CMHA-HRB
  • Facilitate mediation of staff issues and conflict resolutions in accordance with CMHA-HRB code of conduct, policies and procedures
  • Engage in community and stakeholder meetings as required
  • Responsible for the rotation of the on-call coverage of services
  • Responsible for reviewing and maintaining quality records and documentation on all clients associated with the programs, while respecting privacy laws (consent and confidentiality) within the agency
  • Complete, review and report routinely on program-specific key performance indicators
  • Work within the Vision, Mission and Values of the CMHA-HRB towards short and long term objectives that openly reflects the relationships and expectations of the Ends Monitoring Report
  • Other duties as reasonably assigned by the Chief Operations Officer

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate degree in Social Work, Nursing or related health care field preferred, and at least three (3) years of management experience
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in mental health services preferably in a community health setting
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in addiction services preferably in a community health setting
  • Registration with a professional college is preferred
  • Knowledge of Privacy Laws an asset
  • Working knowledge of the mental health and addictions sector, crisis intervention, management principles and community residential services
  • Working knowledge and experience within the criminal justice system within Ontario
  • Relationship-building, leadership, team-building and change management abilities
  • Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation including the Mental Health Act
  • Ability to conceptualize, organize and implement special projects
  • Knowledge of budget processes and financial monitoring controls
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service and quality programs
  • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning, organizational and project management skills
  • Demonstrated facilitation and conflict resolution skills
  • Well-developed critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of CRMS database an asset
  • Training in CPR, first aid and ASIST is an asset
