CMHA Ontario participated in a Canada-US roundtable in Washington D.C. on September 24 to build upon cross-border relationships to share best practices and further respond to the opioid crisis. This event was organized by the Cross-Border Health Foundation and took place at the Pew Charitable Trust.
Attendees of roundtable had a broad range of expertise, including both Canadian and American public health professionals, border security, treatment providers, law enforcement, politicians and people with lived experience from both countries.
The goals of the event were to: exchange best practices in innovation to address problematic opioid use, including prevention, treatment and recovery; and, identify opportunities for collaboration, such as surveillance, research, training, and standards.
