CMHA Ontario’s Scott Mitchell will join a panel of Canadian athletes and accessibility advocates to share how greater accessibility and inclusion in sport can positively affect the health and well-being of marginalized populations. Mitchell, the director of knowledge transfer at CMHA Ontario, is one of five speakers scheduled to present during a free webinar, Impact of Inclusion: Perspectives on Accessibility in Sport, on March 15 at noon.
The webinar come months after the 2015 Pan/Para Pan Am Games in Southern Ontario, which showcased accessibility in sport. Ontario is pursuing a goal of an accessible province by 2025.
Mitchell spearheaded the development of Enabling Minds, an online tool that provides mental health accessibility training for anyone who works in the field of sports, fitness or recreation. Enabling Minds is sponsored by the Government of Ontario’s EnAbling Change program.
