Conservation Ontario, CMHA Ontario and other partners are encouraging Ontarians to boost their health by stepping into nature at any of Ontario’s nearly 300 Conservation Areas from May to October. Healthy Hikes, an annual health and wellness initiative of Conservation Ontario, is back for a fourth straight year. As part of the initiative in 2016, participants are encouraged to snap a fun selfie or nature image at any conservation area and share it on social media using the hashtags #HealthyHikes & #StepIntoNature. Participants can also register on the Healthy Hikes website to track the time spent hiking at conservation areas.
CMHA Ontario is participating in this initiative through our Mood Walks program, which provides training and support for community mental health organizations across Ontario to launch educational walking programs for people who experience mental health issues.
