The Government of Ontario has introduced a new telephone help line for college and university students as part of its Comprehensive Mental Health and Addictions Strategy. This new free service is called Good2Talk and operates each and every day throughout the year. It offers professional counseling, mental health information and connections to local resources with guaranteed confidentiality.

CMHA Ontario is also supporting campus mental health through the development of the Centre for Innovation on Campus Mental Health. Housed at CMHA Ontario, the Centre is taking a lead role and is working with partners (Colleges Ontario, the Council of Ontario Universities, the College Student Alliance and the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance) to advance the mental health of students on campus.
The Centre will be a place where organizations can access expert advice on student mental health. It will also provide an online hub of resources and expertise for campus staff to assist them in helping students deal with mental health issues. CMHA Ontario currently has three working groups that are taking on the following functions:
- Enhancing access to mental health expertise for those working directly with students on campus
- Supporting the development of a community of practice in campus mental health
- Supporting the development of innovative and promising practices to enhance student mental health
