http://moodwalkssummit2017.eventbrite.ca Mood Walks is a province-wide initiative that promotes physical activity in nature, or “green exercise,” as a way to improve both physical and mental health. Led by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario, in partnership with Hike Ontario and Conservation Ontario, Mood Walks provides training and support for community mental health agencies, social service organizations and other community partners to launch educational hiking programs, connect with local resources, and explore nearby trails and green spaces. In 2016, the Mood Walks for Youth in Transition project supported 41 organizations across Ontario to launch new hiking groups for youth who are at risk of, or experiencing, mental health issues.
Join us for panel presentations on Nature for All: Diversity and Inclusion, Youth Engagement, and Campus Mental Health, as well as storytelling and physical activity (hiking, skating, urban poling). The Mood Walks Summit will enable dialogue among its community of practice, and map new partnership paths that support mental wellness through the “green lift” of nature-related programs.
