Ontario is encouraging people across the province to visit Ontario.ca/Budgettalks to vote for their three favourite ideas for the upcoming 2018 budget. The deadline to vote is January 26, 2018 at 5 pm. Selected ideas will be announced as part of the upcoming 2018 Budget.
Consistent with CMHA Ontario’s pre-budget submission, a number of ideas proposed on the website focus on enhancing mental health and addictions services across the province:
- Increase mental health programs for students
- Online mental health support for Aboriginal youth
- Supervised housing for people with mental health issues
- Temporary mental health support clinics
Ontarians submitted more than 700 ideas in five focus areas including child care, seniors, small business, students and healthy living as part of the Budget 2018 public engagement process. Up to $5 million will be made available in Ontario’s 2018 Budget to implement the most popular ideas.
