A new children’s book called, “Project: Kids, Let’s Talk” uses fairy-tales to increase awareness about mental health. Authored by Isis the Dragon, a charity that produces books on children’s mental health, this special edition book tackles some of the particular issues in mental health faced by children from military families, focusing on the themes of open communication and dealing with grief. It was revealed at the international conference on mental health stigma hosted by the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) on June 7, 2012.
The picture book was developed in consultation with the Military Family Services Program, operated by the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces. It will be distributed across Canadian Forces bases this summer.
