CMHA Ontario CEO Camille Quenneville and staff met with the Honourable Sylvia Jones, MPP Hardeep Grewal and senior leadership of William Osler Health System at Brampton Civic Hospital this week to discuss Your Health Space, CMHA Ontario’s workplace mental health training program for Ontario’s health care organizations.
At the meeting, Your Health Space Director Eduardo Castro, along with Program Manager Ashley Kim and Training and Learning Development Lead Nancy Hood, spoke of the impact of the program, which has trained approximately 15,000 health care workers. Members of the William Osler Health System leadership team also participated in the discussion on workplace wellness and provided a tour of several areas in the hospital, including a respite room for staff.
Following the meeting, the Minister tweeted her thanks and shared photos of the meeting on her social media channels.
Your Health Space provides psychoeducational training that supports organizations in addressing the burnout and moral injury affecting their teams and is delivered through live workshops (virtual and in-person) and microlearning huddles (“Wellness Moments”) facilitated by a team of trainers based across Ontario. Nearly 400 unique health care organizations have requested Your Health Space since its launch last May.
The program is an important first step that encourages organizations to begin having important conversations about fostering workplace mental health and promoting psychological health and safety. It also works with an organization’s leaders, health care workers, and support staff to help them recognize symptoms of chronic workplace stress in themselves and their colleagues.
