Christine Hillis is a crisis and outreach worker at CMHA Oxford County. She has written a book, called Seeing Through the Label, which chronicles her own lived experience. The book provides information and new perspectives about mental illness to the average person through the eyes of Christine and her experiences. Since it was published, Christine has also released videos and blogs and organized mental health talks to continue to break down the stigma and discrimination associated with a subject many still consider taboo.
In May, 2015, Christine is taking her Seeing Through the Label initiative on the road to facilitate mental health conversations. She’s hoping community agencies right across Canada can help by offering venues where discussions about mental illness can occur.
