(Toronto, Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015) – The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Ontario Division Board of Directors is pleased to announce that its representative from Thunder Bay, Michael Lewkin, has been appointed Chair of the provincial board for a two-year term beginning immediately. Lewkin has served on the CMHA Ontario Division Board from 2002 to 2005 and again from 2008 to the present. He has served as Chair of the Audit Committee, Chair of the Governance Committee and a member of the CEO Search Committee.
Locally, Lewkin first began serving the Board of CMHA Thunder Bay in 1992. He was Board Chair from 1998 to 2001 and Past-Board Chair until 2003. He rejoined the Board in 2011 and has been Chair since 2013.
“Since 1952, CMHA Ontario has been a leader in community mental health and I’m honoured to serve as chair for the provincial board,” Lewkin said. “I look forward to working with my fellow board members who each contribute significantly to the strategic direction and governance of CMHA Ontario.”
“Michael has been committed to the CMHA in Ontario and Thunder Bay for many years and it’s fitting that he can transfer this passion and dedication into this new role,” said James Spence, Past Chair of the CMHA Ontario Division Board. “On behalf of everyone on the Board, we look forward to supporting him throughout his term as Chair.”
