HealthForceOntario has released a report on implementing interprofessional care in Ontario. Interprofessional care is the provision of comprehensive health services to patients by multiple health care professionals who work collaboratively to deliver the best quality of care.
The report is based on over two years of work by the HealthForceOntario Interprofessional Care Strategic Implementation Committee and working groups. The committee is made up of representatives from academic institutions and professional associations, as well as caregivers and regulators.
Highlights of the report include a framework for interprofessional education, core competencies for interprofessional care, opportunities and next steps, and a model for implementing interprofessional care.
HealthForceOntario is the province’s strategy to ensure that Ontarians have access to the right number and mix of qualified health care providers.
