The Steering Committee of the Ontario Common Assessment of Need (OCAN) has expanded the list of functional centres that it recommends as appropriate for OCAN. The entire list of functional centres now being recommended are Assertive Community Treatment, Case Management, Clubhouse, Concurrent Disorders, Counselling and Treatment, Day/Night Care, Diversion and Court Support, Dual Diagnosis, Early Intervention, Forensic, Psychogeriatric, Social Rehabilitation/Recreation, Support within Housing, Short-term Residential Crisis Support Beds, and Vocational Employment. This new step should help determine the future scope and strategy of LHIN-wide implementation of OCAN 2.0.
Consumer organizations have rated OCAN favourably in an evaluation report based on six peer programs throughout the North East LHIN. The evaluation was aimed at assessing OCAN in consumer organizations and as a tool to provide feedback related to the role of peer support. Feedback was gathered via anonymous questionnaires and a focus group.
