The Osgoode Certificate in Mental Health Law is being offered from October 14 to December 16, 2010 in Toronto. This unique certificate program, now in its third year, provides an overview of the core principles of mental health law, as well as strategies for handling mental health law issues, through lectures, case studies, class/group discussions, directed readings and guest speakers. There are six modules in the program: Overview of Mental Health Law in Ontario; Mental Health – Civil System; Consent and Capacity and Substitute Decision-Making; Special Issues in the Geriatric/Pediatric Context and Cultural Issues in Mental Health; Privacy, Confidentiality and Risk Assessments; and Mental Health – Forensic System.
