Psychosocial Rehabilitation Canada (PSR/RPS Canada) is seeking nominations for its Pioneer Awards, which acknowledge contributions made by individuals and organizations in the mental health field. Nominations are sought in four categories:
- The Recovery Award for Excellence is presented to a program or organization contributing to the promotion of education, support, wellness and recovery in the field of mental health;
- The Resiliency Award is presented to an individual who is or has been in recovery, who demonstrates exemplary leadership in the community;
- The Recovery Research Award is given to an individual who has led research that addresses an issue of importance to psychiatric rehabilitation practice or policy, in collaboration with a psychiatric rehabilitation agency or organization and/or conducted the best-designed and most useful research in the field of psychiatric rehabilitation;
- The Ambassador Award is presented to an individual/volunteer/service provider/health provider/educator who has demonstrated dedication and excellence in providing psychiatric rehabilitation services and/or made outstanding contributions towards educating and mentoring a new generation of leaders. There will be two awards for this category: one will be presented to an individual living/working in the province hosting the conference; one award will be given to an individual living/working elsewhere in Canada. This year the awards will be presented at the PSR/RPS Canada Conference in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia (September 26th-29th, 2011). Nominations will be accepted until June 1st, 2011.
