An effective, sustainable approach to psychological health training
Resilient MindsTM is an evidence-informed, peer-to-peer, skill-building program designed by and for career and volunteer firefighters across Canada to develop strategies to mitigate and better manage occupational stress and enhance personal resilience, resulting in informed and healthier teams.
Resilient Minds will train you to:
|Recognize the effects of psychological stress and trauma in yourself and your peers
|Communicate with peers who may be struggling
|Respond promptly, safely and appropriately to distressed citizens
|Apply personal strategies for managing stress, mitigating trauma and boosting resilience
Resilient Minds training is offered in two delivery options:
- For those who are looking for a fundamental course to improve firefighter mental health, build resiliency and understand the impacts of trauma on yourself and the public you work with, the Resilient Minds Course may be right for you. This is an eight-hour peer-led course provided directly to firefighters. Learn more about our Resilient Minds Course.
- For those who are interested in directly delivering mental health training within your fire department, our Train-the-Trainer Course may be for you. This 24-hour course will help prepare and certify you to become a Peer Instructor to deliver the 8-hour Resilient Minds Course within your fire hall.
