With Ontario’s provincial election just around the corner on June 7, 2018, the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF) and the Canadian Mental Heath Association (CMHA), Ontario are teaming up to bring attention to the state of mental health and addictions services in Ontario.
Mental health and addictions services in communities throughout the province have been chronically underfunded compared to other parts of the health system. The result: the mental health and addictions system is crumbling. It’s impossible to meet the needs of Ontarians. Wait times are up. Programs have been cut. People are falling through the cracks.
CACCF has been certifying addiction professionals for 30 years and recognizes that increased funding would allow those living with a substance use issue to get the help they need from educated, trained, licensed and safe addiction counsellors and facilities.
CACCF and CMHA Ontario are jointly calling on political parties and candidates to commit to urgently-needed investments in mental health and addictions care for Ontarians in need. Visit erasethedifference.ca, and sign a CMHA Ontario petition that calls on political parties to fund mental health and addictions care like physical health care.
Join thousands of Ontarians in letting provincial candidates know that it’s time to #erasethedifference.
