Canada Post is asking the public to vote for their favourite mental health stamp design. Since 2008, Canada Post has raised over $2.5 million for mental health awareness and community mental health treatment in communities across Canada through the Canada Post Foundation for Mental Health.
The five stamp design finalists were recently selected during a national stamp design competition, and are posted on the Canada Post website for public voting. The winning stamp will be announced in April 2011, and will go into circulation in September 2011. A dollar from every mental health stamp booklet sold supports the Canada Post Foundation for Mental Health.
The deadline for voting on the stamps is March 14, 2011. Voting is limited to one vote per person, per design, per day. The winner will receive a framed commemorative enlargement of the stamp and a $500 honorarium to be donated to a mental health charity of their choice.
