The Racialized Populations and Mental Health and Addictions Community of Interest’s July 26 webinar, Exploring OCAN’s Potential for Health Equity, is now available for viewing or reviewing the presentation slides. The webinar from this CMHA-led COI explored:
- What is the OCAN, who is using it, what is its value to the mental health system, and what are its potential benefits for equity-related planning at the program, agency, and provincial level;
- Opportunities and challenges that OCAN presents for clients and organizations;
- Considerations and perspectives from persons with lived experience; and
- Future plans for OCAN to help regional and provincial planning for programs and services with equity in mind.
The session used real examples of OCAN agency reports to highlight how aggregate information can be used to inform health equity planning by service delivery organizations and explore what could be done in future at the LHIN and provincial levels.
The panelists:
- Dawnmarie Harriott, Working for Change
- Deqa Farah, Fred Victor
- Jennifer Zosky, Community Care Information Management
- Kevin Barclay, Champlain Local Health Integration Network
The session was moderated by Sheela Subramanian, Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario, lead of the Racialized Populations and Mental Health and Addictions Community of Interest.
