DEADLINE EXTENDED – Feedback request: Share knowledge and innovative practices related to mental health, emergency departments and racialized populations
The Community of Interest (CoI) for Racialized Populations and Mental Health and Addictions is a new provincial forum for knowledge exchange and collaborative knowledge creation focused on issues related to racialized populations and mental health and addictions. The goal of the CoI is to strategically leverage existing or emerging evidence (including community-based, lived experience as well as peer-reviewed academic and other sources of knowledge ) to improve provincial, LHIN and provider policy, planning and practice related to racialized populations and mental health and addictions.
Over the next several months, the CoI will focus on mental health and/or addictions-related use of emergency department (ED) services by racialized groups. As a first step the CoI is gathering existing information in this issue area and is asking for your help. The following brief survey asks for information on existing knowledge, promising practices and opportunities in this area. Information gathered through this survey, along with a literature scan will serve to build an inventory of resources and lay the ground work for future action to inform program and policy planning.
Please take a few moments to complete the survey by December 3, 2012. It takes about five to ten minutes to complete.
CoI steering committee members are: Across Boundaries; Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario Division; Canadian Mental Health Association, Toronto Branch; Centre for Addiction and Mental Health; Community Resource Connections of Toronto; Health Equity and Race Ontario; Ontario Multicultural Health Applied Research Network; Ontario Peer Development Initiative; Rainbow Health Ontario; Wellesley Institute; Women’s Health in Women’s Hands Community Health Centre.
The CoI is supported by the Evidence Exchange Network for Mental Health and Addictions (EENet).
