Health Quality Ontario has released an open call for volunteers to help form an advisory committee that will set quality standards for care provided to individuals living with schizophrenia within Ontario comminutes. Volunteers for this committee can include patients, family members, informal caregivers, health care professionals, community service providers, administrators and researchers.
Quality standards are evidence-based recommendations that are intended to improve areas of health care delivery in a specific sector or setting. The purpose of developing quality standards is to provide easy-to-understand statements on how to provide the best possible care to Ontarians with specific needs. By creating these standards, families and clients can become informed about what to expect when seeking care, health care providers will know what care they should be providing and organizations will be able to measure and improve performance on care for specific populations that the quality standards are targeting.
The deadline to express interest in becoming a member of the Quality Standard Advisory Committee for schizophrenia care in the community is Sept. 26, 2016. You can apply to become a member of this committee on the Health Quality Ontario website.
