Support and Housing Halton/TEACH on behalf of the Enhancing & Sustaining Peer Support Initiative Mississauga Halton Region is hosting the annual Peer Knowledge Exchange Event on December 6 from 8:30 – 4:00 pm at The Trinity Hall-Canadian Coptic in Mississauga, Ontario. This event is free for attendees.
The agenda includes a wide-range of key note speakers, panels and breakout sessions. Content may be of interest to those working or volunteering as a peer support worker, working with or supervising peer support workers, people with lived experience and/or family experience of mental health and addictions, system planners, service funders or policy makers.
Attend this event to learn from Peer Support leaders and innovators. Hear experiences in providing peer based support, learn how to overcome challenges implementing peer support, and discuss strategies for finding your voice to advocate as an individual accessing mental health and addictions supports in the current system.
The event includes a session based on CMHA Ontario’s article “The fine balance between data and peer support,” written in partnership with Theresa Claxton (Coordinator, Emergency Department Peer Navigator and Central LHIN Lived Experience Network Programs, Krasman Centre) and Deborrah Sherman (Executive Director of Ontario Peer Development Initiative) in the latest edition of Network Magazine.
