The Bridge Training Program supports the career development of internationally trained mental health professionals by providing bridge training and supervised work experience to facilitate labour market integration within the mental health field in Ontario. The program is currently seeking mental health organizations to offer unpaid internships to foreign-trained professionals. All program participants currently live in the Greater Toronto Area, so internship opportunities need to be within a GO train ride or reasonable driving distance from Toronto, including Peel, Guelph, Hamilton or other centres at a similar distance.
On October 21, an Opportunities Fair is being held to support networking between bridge training participants and agencies offering internship opportunities. The fair takes place from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street, Toronto. Guest speakers include Dr. Khalil Ramal, MPP and Parliamentary Assistant to the Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, and Joyce Rowlands, Registrar for the Transitional Council for the College of Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists of Ontario.
