Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) is inviting young people across the province to tap into their creative side and take part in Change the View, a YouTube video contest that aims to eliminate the stigma around children’s mental health issues. CMHO’s goal this year is to attract 250 videos. All videos must be submitted by April 9, 2015 and participants have a chance to win $1,500. Winning videos will be announced during Children’s Mental Health Week, May 3-9, 2015.
Change the View has helped CMHO connect with teachers and students across the province. A number of teachers have incorporated the contest into their curriculum to raise awareness and help reduce the stigma behind mental health issues. CMHO’s video contest has also received international recognition from like-minded organizations that would like to launch similar events.
