Nominations are now open for Canadian Mental Health Association, London-Middlesex branch’s annual Champion of Mental Health Awards. Each year, CMHA London selects two recipients – an individual and an organization – who have overcome mental health challenges or advanced mental health issues. Specifically, the Champion of Mental Health Awards honour local Mental Health Champions who have made a significant contribution in one or more of the following four areas:
- Reducing the stigma experienced by people with mental illness.
- Providing support or treatment to people with mental illnesses, their families and/or caregivers.
- Advocacy for issues related to mental health (including individual needs, family needs, service delivery and systematic issues).
- Advancing knowledge in the area of mental illness/health research.
The 2014 Champion of Mental Health Awards will be presented at the annual Breakfast of Champions, a partnership event with St.Joseph’s Health Care Foundation. In addition to the awards presentation, the keynote speaker at the event will be Juno award winning artist Chantal Kreviazuk.
