Camille Quenneville, CEO, Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario told CBC Radio that Mental Health Week (MHW) 2014 is a prime opportunity for people to lose the stigma and speak about the issue of mental health.
On Monday, May 5, Quenneville was a guest on Here and Now, a drive-home program broadcast throughout southern Ontario. During the conversation with host Mary Ito, Quenneville promoted the official website for MHW – www.mentalhealthweek.ca – and said the onus is on all of us to help those who may be struggling with their mental health.
She said that parents, teachers, colleagues and friends can broach the subject with people they know in a non-judgmental manner, reminding them that help is available. She also stressed that CMHA is present in communities throughout the province to assist individuals who may find themselves in need of support.
The program hasn’t been uploaded to CBC Here and Now’s website yet, but will be soon. Check their website soon to listen.
