Mark Henick is Program Manager for Mental Health Works at the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Ontario. He is also a mental health advocate and counselor; helping others conquer stigma and systemic barriers. This year, Henick has been chosen as one of five of Faces of Mental Illness by the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH).
CAMIMH’s Faces campaign is a national outreach initiative featuring the stories of Canadians living in recovery from mental illness in Canada. It is one of the major initiatives planned for Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) happening October 5 – 11, 2014. As part of MIAW and the Faces campaign, Henick has participated in several public discussions about mental illness including a radio interview with News1130 in Vancouver and an interview on Canada AM, a national television program.
Henick also delivered a successful TEDxToronto talk in 2013 on his experience with suicide. He continues to write and speak regularly about his lived experience. Watch his TedxToronto talk on YouTube.
