The new Centre for Complex Diabetes Care officially opened its doors at The Scarborough Hospital’s General Campus on November 12, 2012. The Centre will serve people living in Scarborough, Durham Region and Peterborough who require access to specialized diabetes care. At the Centre, people can receive services and supports that include managing blood sugars, promoting healthy eating, insulin administration, counselling, vision monitoring, cardiac health supports, and foot and wound care.
The new Centre provides a single point of access for patients needing specialized health care, as well as a coordinated approach to care for their diabetes and complex health needs. Partner sites located at the Scarborough Hospital, Peterborough Regional Health Centre and Lakeridge Health Whitby will work with the Centre to provide a seamless continuum of care for patients.
As part of Ontario Diabetes Strategy, this Centre is one of six across Ontario. For more information go to the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care site.
