A free online course about mental health, delinquency and crime is now available from the Canadian Population Health Initiative (CPHI). The course is directed at those who work with youth, those with a mental health condition who are in contact with the justice system, or those who are interested in diversion of people from the justice system to mental health treatment.
The one-hour course is designed to provide individuals with an understanding of how some mental health factors protect or increase risk for youth to engage in delinquent behavior; describe options for mental health diversion; explore issues related to mental health treatment needs and the justice system; and share information about collaboration in these areas. Learners will receive a certification of completion.
