The first round of coaches have been named to the Excellence through Quality Improvement Project (E-QIP), giving the partnership the ability to offer tailored support to those community mental health and addictions agencies looking to enhance Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives. Four QI coaches and two data coaches were unveiled at CMHA Ontario’s pre-conference, Measuring Our Success, on Sept. 28. The coaches are spread out around the province and offer direct experience and sector knowledge. They will be available for project coaching, agency (organization) coaching and support for the E-QIP Community of Practice. E-QIP continues to explore the addition of further coaches to its roster.
E-QIP is a collaborative community of practice of CMHA Ontario, Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO), and Health Quality Ontario (HQO). Together these organizations are supporting Ontario’s community mental health and addiction service providers to make care better by enhancing a sector-wide culture of QI.
E-QIP is exploring a variety of approaches to meet local and sector needs including web-based collaborative and coaching, self-directed learning and tools, QI training (introductory and advanced) and project and organizational coaching. Collectively, these initiatives will result in the building and embedding of QI knowledge and skills in a meaningful way to encourage sustainability in the sector.
E-QIP is an 18-month project that will build upon the existing foundation of excellence by integrating quality into everything the mental health and addictions sector does for years to come.
E-QIP will support Ontario’s community-based mental health and addictions service providers in building skills and quality improvement mechanisms to assure they are providing the best possible care, treatment and services. In doing so, the sector can also be more accountable to government, funders, and most importantly – the individuals and families they serve.
E-QIP continues to seek ongoing feedback from the sector in order to improve the project by any means.
