The Provincial Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committee’s (HSJCC) 2013 Conference registration is now open. The conference, titled “New Realities: The Changing World from Youth to Elderly in Human Services & Justice” will be held from November 25-27, 2013 in Toronto. The conference will explore a range of themes including Concurrent Disorders, Aboriginal/Cultural Perspectives, Family, People with Lived Experience, Forensic Mental Health, Youth, Seniors, and Adult Mental Health and Justice.
The conference will begin with keynote speakers Mr. Howard Sapers, Correctional Investigator of Canada, and Justice Marvin Morten. The second day will include a keynote from Dr. Wayne Hammond, executive director with Resiliency Initiatives in Calgary, Alberta, and a feature presentation of the film Not Criminally Responsible. On the final day of the conference 11-time international medalist, 47x Canadian National Champion, and the current solo-marathon World Record holder in the sport of inline speed skating, Meaghan Buisson, will be giving the closing keynote address. Concurrent sessions and workshops will be running throughout the conference.
