The Hamilton Community Legal Clinic has developed a new toolkit on human rights. The toolkit provides information about rights and responsibilities under the Ontario Human Rights Code as well as information about the human rights application process.
The toolkit, which includes a manual, power-point presentation, and facts sheets in 13 different languages, presents accessible materials for the broader population to improve awareness of human rights and access to the human rights system. The toolkit can be used to reach groups that have historically been disadvantaged or marginalized and can benefit from increased awareness around human rights, such as recent immigrants, Aboriginal communities, as well as people with physical and mental health disabilities.
The toolkit is intended to be used by both workshop facilitators and participants. There is information for facilitators to assist with preparing and conducting human rights workshops, and there are sections for participants to use as a reference both during and after the workshops.
