Ontario hosted the annual meeting of provincial and territorial health and wellness ministers this month, with the group addressing mental health in Canada in its final communique. “Recognizing the challenges and serious health consequences that mental illness poses for many Canadians, ministers affirmed the importance of an integrated and coordinated approach involving all sectors, to improve mental health services,” the statement said. “They agreed to continue to share best practices toward early intervention, treatment and supports and convene a meeting of employers in the coming months. ”
Mental health was not the sole issue the ministers had discussed. The ministers were also focused on strengthening the quality of health care delivery and preventative care.
