The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities has released a Call for Proposals to identify organizations, or groups of organizations working in partnership, to pilot Local Employment Planning Councils (LEPCs). This is a major initiative under the Ministry’s Employment and Training Services Initiative (ETSI).
LEPCs will connect employers, different levels of government, service providers, trainers and other local partners.
The establishment of LEPCs will drive local approaches in the planning and delivery of employment and training services, supporting the ministry’s work to modernize and transform Ontario’s employment and training programs. It is expected that LEPCs will promote community-based approaches to support the workforce and generate and analyze local labour market information. The LEPCs will connect employers, different levels of government, service providers, trainers and other local partners.
The ministry will pilot LEPCs in eight communities; Durham, Peel-Halton, Windsor, London-Midddlesex-Oxford, Ottawa, Peterborough, Timmins, and Thunder Bay.
Organizations interested in employment issues are encouraged to apply. Interested applicants can learn more online at the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities website. The deadline for proposals is August 27, 2015.
