The MHCC has announced the development of voluntary standards of practice for Canadian workplaces that will give employers the tools they need to safeguard their employees’ psychological safety. The proposed standards grew out of a 2010 report, “Tracking the Perfect Legal Storm.”
A committee of labour, employers, government, law/policy and other experts has been struck to design standards based on those established by the Bureau de normalization du Québec and the Canadian Standards Association. Funding for this project is provided by Human Resources and Skills Development, Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada and Bell.
A review process is expected in the fall of 2011, with completed standards to be released in 2012.
