Michael Schratter is a Vancouver school teacher, a man with lived experience of depression, and an individual determined to fight the stigma associated with mental illness. He is cycling solo around the world to foster greater awareness about mental illness and to inspire others who are dealing with mental health challenges.
In recognition of his outstanding efforts, Mr. Schratter received the inaugural Nancy Hall Public Policy Leadership Award on September 15, 2011, awarded by the CMHA British Columbia Division. The award honours the spirit of the late Dr. Nancy Hall, a friend, advisor and consultant to CMHA BC Division for more than 15 years.
Congratulations to Mr. Schratter and our best wishes as he continues his journey around the world, spreading messages of hope and a greater understanding of mental illness.
