The Mobile Youth Walk-In Clinic (MOBYSS), based out of CMHA York and South Simcoe, was recently featured on CBC Toronto.
MOBYSS offers a safe space for youth, 12-25, to talk to a medical or mental health professional in a warm, welcoming, and friendly environment. Rebecca Shields (CEO, CMHA YSS) Ilana Archibald (nurse practitioner with MOBYSS) and Nuzhat Fatema Hassanali (peer support specialist with MOBYSS) spoke about challenges facing youth, especially during stressful COVID times when the clinic was limited to virtual access.
“The MOBYSS bus has been more important than ever…because youth have been overly impacted by the pandemic, especially vulnerable youth,” Shields told CBC. “It’s really important that we connect kids to care, which is why this team, this bus that goes to where kids are at, is critical so that they can have fast access to comprehensive holistic services.”
Now that restrictions have been lifted, the bus is gearing up to get back on the road. Watch the full segment below.
