The New Immigrant Support Network (NISN) was established by the Hospital for Sick Children in 2009 with funding from Citizenship and Immigration Canada. NISN has two key initiatives: cultural competence education and translation of patient education resources into languages other than English. NISN has now translated key resources into nine languages and is offering free workshops this winter for organizations interested in addressing health disparities impacting culturally diverse populations and helping enhance organizational cultural competence.
