A new labour market panel has been struck by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) to provide feedback on employers’ experiences with barriers to recruitment of persons with disabilities. The Panel on Labour Market Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities is currently holding online consultations to identify what supports employers have offered potential employees to increase recruitment and retention success, and what challenges they have encountered in hiring this worker population.
The Panel’s mandate is also to identify private sector successes and best practices with regard to the labour market participation of persons with disabilities, as well as barriers and disincentives to their employment.
The three member panel is to submit a final report to HRSDC in December 2012.
