During Mental Health Awareness Week, the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) announced that it is donating over $1.5 million to children’s mental health programs across southwestern Ontario.
The RBC Children’s Mental Health Project is an essential component of their ongoing Health and Wellness donations program. The multi-year commitment is aimed at reducing stigma, providing early intervention and increasing public awareness about children’s mental health. Since 2009, RBC has donated more than $6.5 million to 125 organizations across Canada.
The money will be distributed to more than 100 hospitals and health care organizations with a specialty in children’s mental health issues. As part of the project, a Children’s Mental Health Advisory Panel will be established, composed of grant recipients and nine other mental health experts.
