New research has raised questions about diversity of leadership within the GTA’s health sector. While boards and senior management teams of GTA health care institutions include significant numbers of women, others such as racialized groups, people with disabilities and LGBTQ people remain underrepresented. This research, titled A Snapshot of Diverse Leadership in the Health Care Sector, was led by Dr. Samir Sinha of Mount Sinai Hospital and the University Health Network Hospitals and focused on diversity within local health integration networks (LHINs), hospitals and community care access centres (CCACs) in the GTA. In addition to sharing findings, the report offers recommendations on how health care institutions can increase diversity in leadership.
