The Canadian Mental Health Association and Rexall have announced a new partnership in support of caregiver mental health during COVID-19.
The Rexall Care Network will be supporting caregivers in over 200 communities, with funds going directly to programs and services specializing in caregiver mental health, such as training for neighbourhood agencies to support caregivers, resource guides and toolkits on mental health, and broader mental health education and peer support services. One way CMHA Ontario supports caregivers is through its Living Life to the Full for Caregivers 55+ program, a free, eight-week, group-based course designed to provide skills and knowledge to cope with life’s challenges. Research by Baycrest’s Rotman Research Institute showed participants reported substantial improvements to their levels of anxiety, feelings of loneliness and depressive symptoms after completing the course.
