Long before the Ontario budget is presented, the government’s Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs reaches out to people and organizations across Ontario to gather information to help determine public priorities for the Budget.
After the hearings conclude, the committee writes a recommendation report for the Minister of Finance for the upcoming provincial budget. These public consultations are an important part of the budget process, and CMHA Ontario encourages interested constituents to take advantage of the opportunity to participate.
This year’s pre-budget consultations will take place across the province from January 20 to 30, 2015. The committee will hear oral presentations from individuals or organizations that applied before the December 10, 2014 deadline. The first round of presentations in Fort Frances, Sudbury, Ottawa and Cornwall happen during the week of January 19, 2015. The second round of presentations in Fort Erie, London and Toronto occur during the week of January 26, 2015.
The committee will also accept written submissions from organizations that haven’t presented oral presentations. Submissions can be delivered to the Clerk of the Committee at the address below until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015:
