A new podcast by CMHA Ontario’s Talk Today program has launched today, with its inaugural episode featuring Edmonton Oilers prospect Jake Chiasson.
Chiasson, 20, was one of four Western Hockey League players on the Brandon Wheat Kings who intervened with a person struggling with thoughts of suicide in Brandon, Man. in December 2022.
In this inaugural episode, Chiasson shares his perspective on how the situation transpired, the impact to his team and the local community that followed, and shares messages about the importance of empathy toward others.
Hosted by Talk Today program staff Alex Salomie and Justin Dickie, the Talk Today podcast aims to spread mental health awareness in sports through conversations with athletes and others in the sports community who are passionate about mental health.
