The largest donation in the history of mental health research was announced on November 28, 2011. Roy Thomson granddaughters Linda Campbell, Gaye Farncombe, Susan Grange and families have announced that they are donating $30 million to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) over the next five years.
As a result of their generosity, the Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute will be established to expand work in brain circuitry as well as fund specialized techniques in imaging, optogenetics and bioinformatics.
In addition to their donation to CAMH, the Campbell family has given $67.5 million to the Princess Margaret Hospital for cancer research. This cumulative gift is the largest known donation to cancer research in the country.
