On February 19, the Speech from the Throne: The Way Forward was given for the second session of the 40th parliament in Ontario. It focused on building a stronger economy and ensuring a fair society. Among its commitments was a promise to invest more in mental health services and fight stigma. The Throne speech also announced the transfer of the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario from the Ministry of Community and Social Services to the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment. This alignment is intended to ensure employment potential for people with disabilities and economic benefits for the business sector and Ontario’s communities.
Details of the transfer will be made available in the weeks to come and will be reported in Mental Health Notes.
