The BC Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH) has just released, “Reducing Barriers to Support for Women Fleeing Violence: A Toolkit for Supporting Women with Varying Levels of Mental Wellness and Substance Use.” The toolkit is based on the results of a two and a half year research project that involved consultations with women from across the province. As a result of the research, a Promising Practices Tool Kit and training for services that support women were developed.
BCSTH launched the toolkit at their 2011 Conference, “Pathways to Service Excellence,” on October 19 and 21 in Richmond, British Columbia. The conference featured a stream dedicated to the intersecting issues of violence, mental wellness and substance use.
The toolkit is available for download at www.bcsth.ca.
