The Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA) is putting a spotlight on mental health and addictions, and South Asian youth. On October 29, 2012, CASSA will hold its 2nd Annual Health Equity Conference, “A Diagnosis for Equity: A dialogue on mental health and addictions as it relates to South Asian youth.” The event will feature keynote speaker Uzma Shakir, Director Equity, Diversity & Human Rights, City of Toronto.
Breakout sessions will look at stigma surrounding mental health in the community, the importance of engaging families, and how health equity fits into the province’s mental health and addictions strategy.
The conference marks a collaboration among Punjabi Community Health Services, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Across Boundaries, and Toronto Public Health. It will take place at CAMH, Russell Street site, room 2029.
